A lot of homeowners with gated entries run into the same problem - there's no power source close enough to the gate to run a traditional electric opener. Trenching and running conduit out to the gate is expensive and a whole project in itself. A solar-powered gate opener solves that completely.

We installed a Ghost Controls system here, which is one of the more reliable setups on the market for residential swing gates. The solar panel mounts right at the post, charges the battery bank throughout the day, and keeps the opener running consistently - even on cloudy days. No grid connection needed. The panel feeds two sealed batteries that hold the charge and power the actuator arm on demand.

The actuator arm mounts low on the gate and does the heavy lifting - literally pushing and pulling that iron swing gate open and closed. Combined with a keypad mounted at the post for code entry, this setup gives you full control over who comes in and out without ever leaving your car or the house. Clean wiring, secure mounting, nothing sloppy.

What makes a solar gate setup worth doing right is the details. Proper battery sizing, correct panel angle, clean wire management, and making sure the actuator arm is aligned so it doesn't strain the gate over time. Rush any of that and you'll have a system that works fine for a few months and then starts giving you headaches. We take the time to get it dialed in.

If you've got a gate at your property and you've been putting off automating it because of the power situation, a solar opener is almost always the answer. It's cleaner, more flexible, and honestly not as complicated as people assume - when it's installed properly.
